Mahatma Gandhi prevailed against a fully militarized world power by practicing a kind of activism not harming self or others. Like Martin Luther King Jr., he believed love to be the highest power and refrained from fear-based action. The way I see it, Gandhi's famous words, "Be the change you wish to see in the world," posed a question humanity has not yet been answered.
In suggesting another way of "being," he was asking us if we are free enough to learn a new response to conflict. Though his methods are at odds with our existing model of reality, I believe Mahatma Gandhi's revolutionary approach to social change represents the most direct path to our future peaceful global community.
